Integrate Your Shop with Google Analytics!

We’re excited to offer shopkeepers Google Analytics integration for tracking for your individual Skreened shops! It’s an effective way to monitor how many people visit your shop designs, where they come from and a ton of other important data that will help you optimize your shop and do great marketing.

Step 1: Sign up for a Google Analytics account

Step 2: Create your username for Google Analytics. Then input the website url, which is www.skreened.com/. Agree to the terms of use and create your account!

Step 3: Analytics will then give you a Web Property ID. It is a code that begins with UA.

Step 4: Once you have this code, login to your Skreened account, and go to your account dashboard. Click on Preferences. Scroll down to your Google Analytics setting and insert the UA code in the box provided. Update your preferences, and you’re all set!

How To Describe and Tag Your Designs 

It’s ridiculously important to properly name, tag, and describe your designs thoroughly and accurately when publishing designs to your shops on Skreened.

Proper keywords in design descriptions as well as tags ensure people can find your designs when searching Skreened, or using other search engines.

Be sure to use proper keywords in the:

• Title - This should hook the viewer into wanting to look at your design. It might be descriptive or funny, and the shorter the better. (Title FAIL: Avoid referencing your default shirt style or color, as your design can be placed on any customizable item on the Skreened site unless you specify otherwise.)
  
• Tags – You are allowed 5 tags for your designs, so make them count! These should be words you might not use in the title or description, but might help people find your design. (Tag FAIL - Using unrelated words, or not separating tags with a comma and a space.)
  
• Description - Every word in your description acts as a tag of sorts. It helps people find your design. That’s why it’s so important for the description to be complete and specific. (Description FAIL - nothing there. . . !)

Just think, if you were searching for your design on Google, what words would you enter in that search bar? The Specific is Terrific – and those are words to use while tagging and describing your designs.

We’re excited to offer Google Analytics site tracking for your individual Skreened shops! It’s an effective way to monitor how many people visit your shop designs and where they find your designs online!

It’s simple. All you need is a gmail account. Then head over to Google Analytics and sign up for your account. Step by step instructions are provided:

Create your username for Google Analytics. Then input the website url, which is www.skreened.com. Agree to the terms of use and create your account!

Analytics will then give you a Web Property ID. It is a code that begins with UA. Once you have this code, login to your Skreened account, and go to your account dashboard. Click on Preferences. Scroll down to your Google Analytics setting and insert the UA code in the box provided. Update your preferences, and you’re all set!

Wait 24 hours to see updates on your Analytics. To view your statistics, login to your Google Analytics account dashboard. You’ll see reports on how many visitors are viewing your designs, traffic sources, and a map overlay showing where your visitors are located.

If you don’t yet have a Skreened shop, you can always start one! Just register for a free account! From your account dashboard, start a shop and upload your designs! It’s fun and easy to sell on Skreened!

Jeff Finley’s book, Threads Not Dead: The Designer’s Guide to the Apparel Industry, is an atlas to starting a graphic t-shirt company. The book maneuvers its way from what it means to truly be a designer, designing specifically for t-shirts, “going big-time”, and even what it means to be a household name. Through personal retellings of his own roots, company, and jobs, Finley helps the reader understand the details of owning and running an apparel company.

This book is obviously well designed, but it is also rich with practical take away tips that any designer could use. Threads Not Dead is a useful book for every design entrepreneur, even if they aren’t specifically apparel designers. Finley creates different numbered lists for different aspects of the process. Some of these lists include: “11 character traits for successful design,” “5 traits of a rock solid portfolio,” a “10 step design process,” and many others.

Another very helpful aspect is the resource links shared throughout the book. The knowledge that he shares is years and years of his experiences and learning. His advice is clean and well organized in addition to having wonderful graphics and images to go along with what is being discussed on the page.

The map that Finley has painted with this guide presents applicable steps of how to start your own business. Part information manual, and part design handbook, the book is a goal-inspiring preface to starting one’s own company.
